Lajares has a special magic! It might be its geographical location between ancient volcanoes and sandy beaches which gives it a special energy. Or it might be the beautiful union of people visiting Lajares, the new inhabitants of Lajares, and people originally rooted in Lajares, which allows a smooth mixture of different personalities and cultures, all accepted and all respected.

And of course, no magical place like Lajares can lack people with a special sensitivity who are able to take root in a place foreign to their origins and capture images, drawings and representations that automatically make them part of the whole, simply by showing their sensitivity.

That is Lajares and that is also Greta Chicheri.

Every town or community needs people who see beyond what we “normal” people are capable of feeling. And many times, in our little inner world, we try to explain how special the light of Lajares is, as special as its day and night, its peace and silence that often surrounds us, its size and spaciousness, we try to express its calmness, but we don’t know how. We feel it and we love to feel it, but we don’t find the right way to express it.

Some people do, and one of them is Greta Chicheri.

We like this artist because she has been able to drown in the luminosity of Lajares and create images that, like Edward Hopper, seem impenetrable and show an alien and distant space in which light plays an essential element, showing us warmly illuminated spaces which invite us to a solitude that is loved and pampered, as well as wide spaces in which the night light, equally warm, draws extensions that invite us to meditation.
