The soul of Conatvs is Pedro Antonio Martín Hernández, a man whose connection to the land goes back generations. Raised in a family linked to farming and goat herding in La Oliva, Pedro did not originally set out to become a winemaker. For years, he worked in the restaurant industry, living the demanding rhythm of hospitality life.

Then life changed direction.

After health problems related to stress, a doctor advised him to find something outside the intensity of restaurant work. What began almost as therapy slowly became an obsession.

Pedro started recovering forgotten vines scattered across ravines and volcanic terrain throughout Fuerteventura — some of them ancient local varieties that had nearly disappeared from the island completely.

Most people saw impossibility in that landscape:
wind, lava stone, drought and extreme Atlantic conditions.

Pedro saw potential.

For years, he studied how the vines adapted to the volcanic soil and harsh climate before releasing the first commercial wines. The project demanded extraordinary patience. The name “Conatvs” itself comes from the Latin word for effort — a fitting tribute to the determination required to grow premium wine in one of Europe’s most unforgiving environments.

And somehow, against all logic, it worked.

Today, Bodegas Conatvs produces elegant volcanic wines that have received recognition far beyond the Canary Islands, including awards at Agrocanarias, Bacchus and Mondial des Vins Extrêmes competitions.

More importantly, Conatvs became the first winery in Fuerteventura to obtain the DOP Islas Canarias designation — a milestone not only for the winery itself, but for the island’s modern wine culture.

The wines feel unmistakably connected to the landscape around them:
mineral, Atlantic, volcanic and deeply expressive.

But Conatvs is not only about wine.
