In the middle of Fuerteventura’s volcanic north, Conatvs has become one of the island’s most remarkable wine projects — not only because of the quality of its wines, but because of the story behind them.

The soul of Conatvs is Pedro Antonio Martín Hernández, a man whose connection to the land goes back generations. Raised in a family linked to farming and goat herding in La Oliva, Pedro did not originally set out to become a winemaker. For years, he worked in the restaurant industry, living the demanding rhythm of hospitality life.

Then life changed direction.

After health problems related to stress, a doctor advised him to find something outside the intensity of restaurant work. What began almost as therapy slowly became an obsession.

Pedro started recovering forgotten vines scattered across ravines and volcanic terrain throughout Fuerteventura — some of them ancient local varieties that had nearly disappeared from the island completely.
